De Watergroep is the main provider for drinking water in Flanders and employs 1500 people.
De Watergroep was looking for a way to transform their HR organization from personnel administration to a customer centric, modern and flexible HR organization. They wanted to change the role of HR from admin expert to employee mentor. As De Watergroep has a decentralized, mobile workforce the HR transformation needed to be supported by a modern HR application accessible for everyone, anywhere and at any time.
The expectations on the HR application were high:
1. Preferably in the Cloud
2. Supporting the specificities of a public sector organization
3. Full scope: administration, time management, payroll and post payroll as well as talent management
4. Allowing a complete digitization of the entire workforce: no more paper based workflows
5. Should support an outsourcing model (where a payroll provider is responsible for running the payroll process)
The shift towards the new software required another way of working. Therefore, an integrated change management approach was key to ensure the new processes and workflows would be anchored in the day-to-day reality. The project impacted the entire workforce, and specifically the blue-collar workforce. To ensure buy in from all employees, lots of time was invested in internal communication and extensive training sessions.
