HR collects, processes and stores a lot of personal data. It all starts with the onboarding of a new employee. KBC was looking for ways to optimize their onboarding process. The organization wanted to transform their HR function, so that they could reduce the administrative burden and invest more time in value added HR.
That’s where eID came into play…
KBC uses the technology to allow quick and easy access to the eID data inside a familiar environment (= SAP Fiori Launchpad). After reading the eID card of a new employee, the data is sent to SAP to complete the hiring action.
Emeritis has developed a SAP Fiori application and browser extension for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, allowing to read electronic ID cards (eID) and integrate its data in SAP Fiori applications.
The result? An optimized onboarding process
When a new employee enters the organization, he or she needs to be officially registered. In the past this registration process was done on paper or via e-mail. HR initiates this process as soon as the new employee has signed the contract. The registration is now processed via a custom developed SAP Fiori application. With this application, the eID card can be read and all hiring data can be collected and stored. Example giving: information about the future job role, official start date, and so on. HR completes the hiring process in the system, so all data collected via the application appears in SuccessFactors.

– Once you insert an eID, it takes no more than 1 second to read the data and integrate it in the fields on your screen.
– Besides being vastly quicker than manual input, the most important advantage is the 100% data accuracy.
